Stormking Website
Funnily enough, Stormking was one of the first major projects that I created at Aldine. One of my colleagues who had been originally assigned the job realised the problem of statically creating product pages and images for about 1000 items!
PHP to the rescue! Each section was created so it would view the categories, groups and then the individual items. Also implemented was a 'shopping basket' for item information, so you could look for certain products and on checkout an internal email was sent from the site to Stormking with a nicely formatted list of products that information on each was needed.
This was also the first time I had created a flat file CSV database system, this was required since the server hosting package didn't have an option for a database. On the next site refresh, a new hosting package had been arranged that provided a MySQL database, so the existing CSV API was rewritten to accommodate the new service and the existing CSV files were imported into the new SQL engine.
The last site refresh was realised in early 2007, where the front end was visually redesigned as well as code wise (the original site template was created using HTML and lots of tables!). Now out of my hands, the site has now been changed to one of the 'snaked' offline CD versions of itself, operating on static generated HTML files.
