CBS Website

This had to be one of the strangest projects I have ever had to do in my life, from the start warning bells went off from those who had previous dealings with the client, but my job was to create the site... anything else was between the company and the client.

I still regard this as one of my most favourite sites, both code wise, functionality wise and design wise. Again drawing on my CSV flat file database experience, the site has a posting system, products system, links system and advice system... all controlled through a nice admin system giving the clients total control over the site content.

Now I can't go into precise details here, but those early alarm bells about the client were 100% correct. History had apparently repeated itself. One memory I will air is the clients assertation that no work had been done and it was exactly the same as the old site. Not only had the site been designed from scratch, but so had the entire back end. Bringing back memories from my university days of handing in coursework and code printouts, out came the landscape orientation printing and thus the source code was outputted. In one hand was the original code from their first site, which when dropped onto a desk barely made a sound... in fact it was more likely to fly off the desk due to its lightness. On the other hand was my code, a thick wad of paper that dropped onto the desk with a thud. Lesson learned: you just can't please unpleasable people.
